The iPhone 18 Pro Max is Apple’s flagship Pro smartphone, combining a large 6.9-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display, the new A20 Pro chip, an advanced 48MP Pro Fusion camera system, and Apple’s latest AI-powered features with Siri AI and Apple Intelligence. Apple announced the iPhone 18 Pro Max on September 9, 2026, with pre-orders beginning September 12 and availability from September 18.

The 6.9-inch display features a 2868 × 1320 resolution at 460 ppi, Dynamic Island, Always-On display, and ProMotion with an adaptive refresh rate of up to 120Hz. It supports HDR, True Tone, P3 wide color, and up to 3000 nits peak outdoor brightness, while an anti-reflective and fingerprint-resistant oleophobic coating improves usability in different environments.

Performance is powered by Apple’s A20 Pro chip, featuring a 6-core CPU, 7-core GPU with Neural Accelerators, hardware-accelerated ray tracing, and a dual 16-core Neural Engine. Apple also pairs the chip with a next-generation vapor chamber to improve sustained performance during demanding workloads.

Photography is a major focus of the iPhone 18 Pro Max. Its 48MP Pro Fusion camera system includes a 48MP Fusion Main camera with variable aperture, a 48MP Fusion Ultra Wide camera, and a 48MP Fusion Telephoto camera with a tetraprism design. The system supports up to 8x optical-quality zoom in, a 16x optical-quality zoom range, and up to 40x digital zoom for still photography.

For video creators, the iPhone 18 Pro Max supports 4K Dolby Vision recording up to 120 fps using the Fusion Main camera, ProRes video up to 4K at 120 fps with external recording, ProRes RAW, Apple Log 2, Genlock support, spatial video recording, and advanced stabilization features. The new 18MP Center Stage front camera adds autofocus, Center Stage framing, Dual Capture, and 4K Dolby Vision video recording.

The iPhone 18 Pro Max offers Apple’s longest battery life on an iPhone, with up to 30 hours of typical use, 45 hours of video playback, and 40 hours of streamed video playback according to Apple. It supports USB-C charging, MagSafe wireless charging up to 25W, and Qi2 wireless charging up to 25W.
